The Smith-McDowell House is located  at 283 Victoria RD, Asheville, NC 28801.

The property on which James McConnell Smith built the Smith-McConnell House was obtained by  Col Daniel Smith (James Father) after the Revolutionary War. The home is Asheville's oldest brick structure. The home is available for tours at a modest admission.

Col Daniel Smith's 200 year old "Long Tom". He served as an officer at the Battle of Kings Moutain and commanded Old Fort, North Carolina.
